​Earth（土）

    Man has always been dependent on the ground for subsistence.To him, earth(土)is represented by its two layers(二)-the topsoil and subsoil-from which growing plants sprout(│).Hence土:the good earth that produces all things for man.

人們的生存離不開土地。象形字的“土”，上下兩橫的“二”，象土壤的頂層和底層之間，中間的一豎“丨”，像植物從地面長出的樣子。由此可見，“土”就是生養萬物的大地。

Riches Are As Worthless As Dust

There is a proverb in China: Riches are as worthless as dust;benevolence and justice are the most valuable things one can possess.

This proverb stresses that benevolence and justice are the most valuable possessions a personcan have.Compared with these qualities wealth is worthless,and one should never discard benevolence for the sake of money.

錢財如糞土，仁義值千金

中國有一句諺語：“錢財如糞土，仁義值千金。”

古代中國人把仁愛和正義作為一個人做人的最高標準。和仁義相比，錢財是微不足道的東西。一個人切不可因為錢財而拋棄仁義。
