雙語解字: Chinese Characters 11-seven（七）

From the source of Chinese Characters,"Seven"is the word "cut"(切). The grapheme of “seven” is like a cross mark cut with a knife. In order to distinguish between "ten"(十)，the ancients turned the vertical lower end of the Chinese character seven into hook.So look,Is the structural parts of "cut"(切) similar to"seven"(七)?

“七”是“切”的本字，字形就像用刀切出來的十字形痕跡。為了和“十”區分，就把七的豎劃下端改成了曲筆。所以你看，“切”字的偏旁是不是也很像“七”？

Double Seventh Festival

Today is the Chinese valentine's day which is also called Double Seventh festival. It is said in folk legends that the Herd-boy and Weaving-girl get together every 7th day of the seventh month on Chinese lunar calendar.

In a Chinese legend who, once a happy couple, become stars separated by the Milky Way. They can meet only once in a year when magpies fly together to form a bridge over the Milky Way.It is a custom for Chinese to watch the Altair and Vegaon on this day.

This day is a traditional Chinese festival and a romantic holiday.Skills-begging is the main folk custom for the Double Seventh Festival, on which night women would get together to pray to Vega and Altair for ingenuity. So among the traditional festivals, the Double Seventh Festival is better suited toValentine's Day. Won't you agree?

七夕節

今天是中國的情人節，也叫七夕節，在每年農曆的七月初七。民間傳說每年的這一天是牛郎和織女聚會的日子。

牛郎和織女是中國神話傳說中的人物，他們曾是幸福的一對，後來被王母娘娘分隔在銀河的兩端。只有在每年的七月初七，喜鵲為他們在銀河上搭成鵲橋，他們才能相會。因此，七夕節有仰望牽牛星和織女星的習俗。

七夕節是我國傳統節日中非常具有浪漫色彩的一個節日，也是過去姑娘們最為重視的日子。七夕節的主要民俗活動是乞巧。婦女們和姑娘們在這天夜裡總要聚在一起，十分認真地祭拜牛郎星和織女星，希望可以像織女一樣心靈手巧。因為七夕節有這樣美麗的傳說，又寄托了女孩子們美好的心愿，在傳統節日裡邊，把七夕節當做情人節來過，倒是很合適的。
