雙語解漢字:Chinese Characters 18-middle（中）

“中”is created by shooting an arrow:│right into the centre of a square target.Man scored a bull’s-eye and secured a mark for “centre”:中.He added a decoration of four stripes,rearranged them,stripped them off,and finally hit his mark for simplicity:中.The symbol also means standing in the middle or neutrality.

“中”字是從射箭變來的，│正好貫穿正方形箭靶的中心。也有說“中”字就象在正中豎立的旗桿，上下有旌旗和飄帶，正中間的“口”形就表示“中間”的意思，“中”的本義就是中心。

A Hundred Shots,A Hundred Bullseyes

In the Spring and Autumn period,there was an excellent archer in the State of Chu called Yang YouJi.To test his skill,someone chose three leaves at different heights on a willow tree,and challenged him to hit them all,one after another. Yang YouJi stood more than a hundred paces away and hit the three leaves in three shots.

A hundred shots,a hundred bullseyes,describes excellent marksmanship.Later it became used to refer to great precision and perfect assurance. 

百發百中

春秋戰國時代，楚國有個人叫做養由基，箭法非常高超。有人在柳樹上選擇了高低不同的三片葉子，養由基能夠在一百步遠的距離，命中那些只有三、四公分寬度的柳葉，而且只要旁人指明想射中哪一片柳葉，他都能夠很快的把箭射出，沒有射不中的。人人都誇讚他的箭法，用“百發百中”，來形容他射箭的絕技。

    “百發百中”這個成語指射箭打槍準確，每次都命中目標。後來常常用來比喻做事有絕對的把握，總能達到預期的目的。
